Peter Zumthor's stilted Zinc Mine Museum

Peter Zumthor's stilted Zinc Mine Museum

Peter Zumthor designed a series of buildings for the site of the former Allmannajuvet Zinc Mines in Sauda, bordering a tourist route. They opened to the public for the first time in late 2016. The mines were in use for 18 years, before being shut at the end of the 19th century.

Inside the museum, mining artefacts including old signage and shovels are spotlit within pitch-black display niches.
