A bespoke, artisan rug by Darryn George for Dilana.

The featured collaboration with Darryn George (Ngapuhi) brings together traditions of Maori art forms with Western abstraction.

George completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) at Canterbury in 1993 and a Master of Fine Art (Painting) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1998. Since 1999, George has been Head of Department, Art at Christ's College in Christchurch. George has exhibited his work initially in Melbourne and extensively throughout New Zealand.

Dilana has been hand crafting New Zealand's most luxurious rugs for over 35 years. Dilana works closely with leading artists, designers and architects to create ambitious, handmade works with a core value of craftsmanship, design integrity and originality.

Dilana opened their Christchurch based Workshop in 1980, and the company has collaborated with many leading contemporary artists including Ralph Hotere, Dick Frizzell, John Reynolds, Martin Poppelwell, Richard Killen, Bing Dawe, Don Peebles and Gavin Chilcott.
