The R.M.Williams Autumn Winter 19 Collection takes inspiration from the work of Australian modernist painter Russell Drysdale, whose revolutionary post-war work forged a new image of the Australian outback.

Drysdale’s visions of outlying structures, gnarled and twisted trees, barren hills and solid, isolated figures represent the endurance of both our landscape and inhabitants. His work focusses on a range of outback subjects; Drover’s wives, station hands, farmers, children playing, Indigenous groups and main street towns. The landscape itself also forms a character in Drysdale’s work: it’s red and brown skies, pools of black shadows, dusty earth, ancient rock formations and barren trees both house and protect its inhabitants.

The seasonal colour palette takes its cues from the warm saturated tones of Drysdale’s work and includes; washed black, deep indigo, emerald, Airforce blue, olive drab, Taupe, saddle, tobacco, redwood, bark, oak, russet, oxblood, redwood, antique ruby, dusty cedar and dark ochre.

The Autumn Winter 2019 collection is comprised of carefully curated pieces across footwear, clothing and accessories that showcases R.M.Williams’ heritage and aligns with the brands statement, designed with purpose.
